If you are an active scientific researcher in the gene therapy arena, we would like to invite you to contribute to this new open resource. It is our aim to build a content-rich site that can be browsed by anyone wanting to expand their understanding of the development and application of novel genetic therapeutics. We ask you to submit a short description of the work that you and your laboratory currently undertake in gene therapy. This will then be listed in the relevant research directory that constitutes part of the site. Alternatively, if you are a clinician or patient currently invovlved in a gene therapy trial we are interested to hear your experiences or suggestions.
Additionally, we would like to give you the opportunity to write a small educational piece describing the approaches that you use in your research. For example, this could take the form of a short review of the vectors or disease models that you use in your studies. These short educational reviews should be short in length (two to three pages, including diagrams) and can contain references to the scientific literature and written much like a mini-review that would appear in a scientific journal.
In return for contributing to the Gene Therapy Review, your mini-reviews will be fully credited to you and we will insert a small biography detailing your research and achievements from a link to your name under the heading of your contribution. Detailed instructions for contributors are available as a pdf file.
Registered users who have already contributed to the Gene Therapy Review and have received 'Author' status are welcome to submit new articles using the 'Direct Article Submission' link in the top menu under 'Submit and Article'

EBSCO Publishing Deal

The Gene Therapy Review announces its new partnership with EBSCOhost, an agreement that will see its content distributed worldwide in a multitude of libraries. Articles submitted to the Gene Therapy Review will now also be directly available in school, college, university, hospital, governmental, corporate and public libraries.
EBSCOhost is part of the EBSCO publishing group and functions by providing customers with an integrated service that combines reference databases, subscription management, online journals, books, linking services and A-to-Z solutions. Inclusion in the databases maintained and distributed by EBSCOhost should widen the exposure of the Gene Therapy Review and encourage new and exsiting users to submit new content and help build the most comprehensive source of gene therapy information on the web.

Here we describe the process of submitting an article to the Gene Therapy Review. Articles are published in the relevant section of the site and at the end of the year are incorporated into a print issue, which is distributed by EBSCO publishing and available to purchase either on the site or through Amazon. We allow users to submit articles even if they have not been invited to do so and we are eager to publish work by authors at all levels, i.e. from PhD student to Full Professor. Each submission is subject to strict review by our editorial board prior to publication so that our published articles are of the highest scientific quality.
Describing Your Research
Submissions should be no more than two pages of size A4 (single-spaced) and can include up to five figures. Descriptions can relate to your institute/lab and your research. Manuscripts should be written bearing in mind the reader will view it in the context of a web page (but will be able to print or download as a pdf file also). In your description you can also include links to any location in your institute\'s site. Links throughout the submitted text should be described in bold with the web address in parentheses immediately after. You are also invited to cite five of your most recent publications and the links to the full text articles from the journal\'s website, or to the abstract on Entrez Pubmed. As a contributor, you also have the option of having a small biography with your contact details and research experiences published on the Gene Therapy Review. Moreover, if you wish, you can also create a user account giving you editorial privileges over the content that you submit. Please indicate whether you would like us to include your contact details on our site and whether you would like to create a user account with editorial privileges.
If you are interested in having editorial control over your submissions, then please register with the Gene Therapy Review online and send your user name with your contribution to our editorial offices at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Gene Therapy Review also maintains a clinical trial database listing all past and present clinical trials utilizing gene transfer or cellular therapy as their mode of action. If you run a gene therapy trial and it is not listed in our database then please contact the gene therapy review with the details of the trial. Finally, the Gene Therapy Review is designed as an open access, content rich web portal containing information on all aspects of gene therapy. Users are invited to submit content describing their expertise or experiences in the gene therapy field. With this in mind, we would be grateful if you could promote the site by including a link to us on your webpage:

Mini-Review Articles
These articles should be aimed at the undergraduate level, or with a view to inform non-experts in the field about various aspects of gene therapy. Examples of educational articles may include (but are not restricted to) description of gene transfer vectors or systems, descriptions of manufacturing processes, descriptions of diseases or disease models that are employed in their study, methods of stem cell isolation/modifications etc. Submissions should be no more than five pages of size A4 (single- spaced) and can include up to five figures. Manuscripts should be written bearing in mind the reader will view it in the context of a web page (but will be able to print or download as a pdf file also). In your description you can also include links to any website that you deem to contain relevant information. Links throughout the submitted text should be described in bold with the web address in parentheses immediately after. Scientific articles can be referenced in your text by a number and the full reference should follow the format below and placed at the end of the text under the heading ‘References’. For Example:

If more than three authors have written the article, please use the format outlayed above, for articles with two or three authors please list all authors.
The corresponding numeral of the article in the main body of the text will link directly to the abstract on the Pubmed website. Therefore, authors should also supply the Pubmed ID for each citation immediately after each reference.
Technical Reviews
Additionally, contributors may want to comment on the current status of a technology (e.g. lentiviral vectors), or a field (e.g. an update on all clinical trials involving Cystic Fibrosis patients). These contributions should be more technical in nature than educational articles and should be written to describe the latest advances. Contributions taking this format will be published in the technology review section of the site and should take the same form as educational articles (e.g. five single- spaced A4 pages with up to five figures and with references in the same format). Upon submission you should indicate whether you want your contribution should appear as a technical review, or an educational article.
Your name and biography will be included in every review article and technology overview that you contribute.
