A T cell gene therapy Phase I clinical trial has opened at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence RI that uses advanced generation designer T cells against CEA-expressing cancers (gastric, colorectal and breast). The designer T cells are retroviral vector-modified to express a chimeric immune receptor (CIR) against carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) with enhanced T cell signaling properties for sustained anti-tumor immune responses.
